Here's the thing:
I’m hiding this tip behind a vague title like “Here’s the thing” so that only true fans will see it.
So, here’s the thing:
A lot of people will post something like “9/11 was an inside job.”
Which one will be the “official” version of that idea?
Well, think about how the social discovery feature we announced last week works. We cobble together all the users who rated the same posts as you, and show you the users who agree with you the most.
That means:
The more people who rate the same posts as you, the more potential Twitter followers you’ll be recommended to.
Because of this, people will probably rate the version that has the most ratings already.
This might mean a single “canonical” version of “9/11 was an inside job” will emerge — a single post representing each idea — and its owner will earn all its rating fees.
an intellectual gold rush?
Whoever posts “9/11 was an inside job” first, has a greater chance of owning the “canonical version” and earning tons of rating fees over the years.
This is the case for all statements.
So when we launch this new version, you might want to get in there early.
Even if only 2 or 3 people rate your post, the rating fees you earn will outweigh the fees you spent to post it.
And if thousands of people rate it?
You do the math.
